MORE ABOUT JESUS #6

King of Kings: The Sovereign One, The Timeless Royal

I once stood in uniform 10’ from Queen Elizabeth, Queen of England. It was at Queen’s Park in Toronto, outside of the Ontario Legislature in 1973. She didn’t wear a golden crown laden with jewels, she didn’t hold a mighty scepter of power or sit on a throne of authority or wear any royal or regal attire. However, there was a sense of refinement around her and her speech and deportment were stately and noble. She was the Queen of England, she was a Royal, she was the Sovereign of the British Empire.

Some 2000 years prior to my encounter with royalty, a stable born, mistreated, maligned, and murdered King came. He had left His Heavenly throne of endless glory to come to an earthly cradle in the dirt.

It was King Jesus and He was A King Like No Other

In every age and culture, kings and queens symbolize power, authority, and rule. Yet, earthly Royals have always been flawed—limited by human weakness and temporary power. But the Bible declares a different kind of King—Jesus Christ. He was and is and will be the eternal, righteous, timeless, ultimate Sovereign, Monarch and Royal over all of heaven and earth.

  • I present to you King Jesus,🡪 see Him seated on His throne in heaven, His throne high above and beyond,
  • He is majestic -thoroughly and perfectly majestic, unmatched in imposing beauty and power,
  • He is Regal – for He is crowned with many golden crowns,
  • He is Royal – for He is of noble and unequalled origin, He has eternally ruled,
  • He is Stately – imperial in appearance, both splendid and has a terrifyingly dignified presence.

This is the King we will see soon enough but our King Jesus looked different when He came to us on earth. But Jesus was the same in essence, inside the same but outwardly different. Inside He was still King of Kings, powerful and royal. Remember that the scriptures say: ‘Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today and forever.’

-when Mary looked at the infant and touched His cheek she was looking and touching God Himself, the majestic King of all Kings.

GO AHEAD AND ENTER THIS SCENE OF MARY AND JESUS

-see the infant lying there, touch the face of God, be filled with surprise at this baby King and be filled with wonderment at what is unfolding before your very eyes.

-when the Pharisees tried to trick Jesus into doing something on the Sabbath, what were they thinking? -King Jesus had made the Sabbath and surely the righteous ruler of all knew and understood His own law.

-when Pilate asked Jesus, are you a King? Jesus said plainly I AM, and the insignificant ruler, the minor Pontius Pilate, didn’t recognize the greatest King ever, even though he was told plainly.

🡪 may I interject at this point that by the authority of Scripture I tell you plainly that Jesus is the King of all Kings, the ruler of heaven and earth and as such is your King eternal. You along with all other people from all of time, will bow the knee to THE KING in Heaven. It is best and blessed to call Him King now and bow your heart to Him today, do not delay the inevitable but come, believe and take Jesus as your Saviour and King today.

Jesus wasn’t just a spiritual teacher, a Rabbi, a prophet, or a miracle worker. Those are things He did. But what was He? He was a King and not in metaphor only, not just a symbolic king, but in actuality, He was and is and will be, THE KING. And will be King Forever.

Jesus eternally reigns. And this ultimate kingship affects you.

—it changes our lives, eternally and our day to day living, because Jesus is Sovereign, because He is in control, because He is all powerful and omnipotent. Christians, we can trust our King because we are His beloved children. Trust the King when you are in the darkness, Trust the Sovereign One when you are in the valleys, trust in the King at all times, remember our Jesus is omnipotently Sovereign and our Royal King.

Q -WHO ELSE CAN MAKE EVERY KING BOW DOWN!

-all kings, all rulers, all Prime Ministers, all Presidents, all Czars, all Ayatollahs, all princes, all chiefs will bow one day to THE KING of Heaven, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Jesus Was Born to Be King

-Even though Jesus was born a King but He wasn’t born LIKE a king.

- but from the beginning of His earthly life, Jesus’ identity as King was declared.

Luke 1:32–33 (Angel to Mary):“He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David... and of his kingdom there will be no end.”

-break out Handel’s Messiah - King of Kings, Lord of Lords

At His birth, the Magi came not merely to celebrate a baby but came to worship a King. Matthew 2:2:Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we saw His star when it rose and have come to worship Him.”

Even as a baby, Jesus’ kingship stirred the hearts of rulers and commoners alike. Herod, threatened by a new King, sought to kill Him. Why? Because power always feels threatened by real power.

Please now imagine and see King Jesus when He was here on earth with us, see Him directly teaching people the truth, enter the scene as if the King, King Jesus is teaching you. What words of power and strength and truth He royally speaks, hang on every word and phrase that the King speaks for He speaks them to you.

-and the King still speaks, yes, He even speaks to you, even now, through His Word (the Bible) and through His Spirit.

THEREFORE: listen carefully and listen attentively and believe every word of your King

-What is Jesus saying to you -stop and listen. Don’t ignore when the King speaks, stop all distractions and listen, hear His words to you.

More about Jesus would I know -hear His words to you.

Now see, now enter the scene and see a King touch a leper, talk to an adulteress woman or mix spit and dirt to place on blind Bartimaeus eyes. surely Kings don’t stoop that low, Jesus isn’t acting like a King!!

-stop dead in your tracts 🡪Jesus is THE KING OF ALL KINGS, so whatever He does is Kingly, His actions are royally right.

And I am thrilled the King reached out to the blind man because He reached out to me, spiritually blind and The King gave me sight. And like the leper, I too was riddled with the disease of sin and morally bankrupt like the adulterous women. Then Jesus, King Jesus touched me.

Did Jesus touch you too? Perhaps, He is reaching out to you now to touch you as you really need Him. Let the King touch you, reach out your hand for His touch, ask Him to take away your blindness, to heal your disease of sin and immorality. He can and will because this King died to rescue you and by His blood paid the penalty for your sin. Humbly but quickly ask for the King’s merciful touch and The king will do so, plus He will make you His child, a family member of royalty.

What a privilege and thrill to have royal blood now in my veins with a sure hope of Heaven and what a tragedy for the untouched lost ones to be illegitimate, wayward and lost with a sure destiny of hell.

The King beckons you, He reaches out to you now, to all the lost this King came for you, He will not pass you by if you call out to Him, if you reach out to Him. Jesus will pass you by if you ignore or refuse Him You choose, what Jesus does depends on you. Choose the King’s touch, please choose the right thing, but choose now, do not procrastinate as this may the last time.

King Jesus was A King Like No Other, in fact, He is King of Kings

King Jesus wasn’t born like a King, but He was a King, THE KING

King Jesus didn’t act like a King, but He acted like a King should.

King Jesus Didn’t act like a king but He acted like a King should

Jesus’ life and ministry subverted expectations. The people wanted a political king to overthrow Rome. But Jesus came to establish a spiritual Kingdom that would reign forever.

John 18:36 (Jesus said to Pilate):

“My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight… But now my kingdom is from another place.”

Though crowned with thorns, He was still the King. Though mocked, beaten, and crucified, Jesus reigned from the cross with a crown far more glorious than any earthly ruler.

Matthew 27:37:“Above his head they placed the written charge against him: THIS IS JESUS, THE KING OF THE JEWS.”

In dying, He defeated sin. In rising, He conquered death. He was King on the cross, and King when the stone was rolled away.

-the Jews rejected His Kingship, Pilate question His Kingship, the religious leaders hated His Kingship as posted on His cross, the disciples lost hope of His Kingship, Thomas doubted His Kingship.

-and now Jesus passes by you and looks at you and asks am I The King to you? Am I your KING?

King of my Life I crown thee now! Jesus wants to be your King, to be King in your life, King of every part of your life🡪 you choose. Please choose today.
