YHWH (Yah^ way) I AM

The God who is, who exists, who lives and who can be known. And God can be known by you, personally, intimately and deeply. This experience is a growing thing, we grow in our understanding of God and the more we grow, the more intimate we are and the more thrilled we become. I dare you to experience this thrill by experiencing God more deeply this Easter. Today, of all days, as we celebrate the resurrection, we can know that God is alive, Christ is not dead He lives. The One who said “I am the resurrection and the life” leaves behind an empty tomb and a defeated grave. We can know YHWH by the name He gave Himself.

-Please understand that this name of YHWH applies to the triune God, Father -Abba, Son -Messiah Christ and Spirit -Holy, each person of the triune God is YHWH.

But where did that name come from, what is the origin of the name YHWH.

Well, Moses was told this name YHWH, by God Himself, when Moses asked for the name who was sending him - it was spoken out of the burning bush.

Exodus 3 NASB

3 Now Moses was pasturing the flock of his father-in-law Jethro, the priest of Midian; and he led the flock to the west side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God (Sinai). 2 Then the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a blazing fire from the midst of a bush; and he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, yet the bush was not being consumed. 3 So Moses said, “I must turn aside and see this marvelous sight, why the bush is not burning up!” 4 When the LORD saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, “Here I am.” 5 Then He said, “Do not come near here; remove your sandals from your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground.” 6 And He said, “I am the God (Elohim) of your father—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” Then Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look at God.

7 And the Lord (YHWH) said, “I have certainly seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their outcry because of their taskmasters, for I am aware of their sufferings. 8 So I have come down to rescue them from the power of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and spacious land, to a land flowing with milk and honey, … 10 And now come, and I will send you to Pharaoh, so that you may bring My people, the sons of Israel, out of Egypt.” 11 But Moses said to God (Elohim), “Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the sons of Israel out of Egypt?” 12 And He said, “Assuredly I will be with you, and this shall be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall worship God at this mountain Mount Horeb, Mountain of Moses, Sinai).” 13 Then Moses said to God, “Behold, I am going to the sons of Israel, and I will say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you.’ Now they may say to me, ‘What is His name?’ What shall I say to them?” 14 And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM”; and He said, “This is what you shall say to the sons of Israel: ‘I AM (YHWH) has sent me to you.’” 15 God furthermore said to Moses, “This is what you shall say to the sons of Israel: ‘The Lord (YHWH), the God (Elohim) of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.’ This is My name forever, and this is the name for all generations to use to call upon Me.

-In or around the year 1271 AD, some 3,294 years ago God says my name is YHWH, I am.

-Then about 2000 years ago Jesus makes a remarkable statement.

John 8:57-59 New American Standard Bible

57 So the Jews said to Him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and You have seen Abraham?” 58 Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly I say to you, before Abraham was born, I am.” 59 Therefore they picked up stones to throw at Him, ...

There it is I AM, Jesus calls Himself I AM, YHWH,

YHWH is God’s self-given name; it is His name for ever, as God said, ‘I am that I am’. I am the self-existent one. Simply stated -I am. The potency of that name exudes that God is all-powerful, beyond human time and space. God is omnipotent, almighty, and supreme.

YHWH is ancient Hebrew, it is 4 consonants and no vowels, prior to this there was ancient paleo Hebrew script where YHWH was said HEE WAH HEE VOD or if read as the ancients did, it was read from right to left as VOD HEE WAH HEE.

We would read YHWH in English from left to right as YOD HEY VAV HEY and each consonant has been assigned a number and also they have been designated or assigned a symbol in Hebrew. Since every letter in Hebrew are assigned a symbol/meaning what do the letters of YHWH symbolize.

(Illus. of meaning)

The name Moses, or in Hebrew Moe^ sha, has meaning and the symbols for each letter for Moe^ sha mean ‘drawn from the water’. Moses was drawn from the Nile River, water, by Pharoah’s daughter.

Here is the meaning and symbols for YHWH

YOD      symbolized by a hand accomplishing a mighty deed.

HEY symbolized as behold or look. A man with raised hands to Heaven.

VAV symbolized as a stake or a nail.

HEY symbolized as behold or look. A man with raised hands to Heaven.

If I read this as English reads, because of how we place nouns and verbs it reads:

BEHOLD THE HAND BEHOLD THE NAIL.  -sounds like the cross to me

I’m stunned by this name of YHWH. Thee NAME, from the very introduction of Thee NAME to mankind, it directs us to the hand, riven with a nail, it leads us to the Cross.

- Thee NAME targets the Saviour with nail riven hands, accomplishing a mighty act, whose name is Jesus -Jeshua –(YEA SHOO^ A)

-what mighty act did Jeshua do? Look at the cross, IT IS EMPTY

HE IS RISEN         HE IS RISEN IN DEED

This resurrected one said that no one would take His life but rather He would lay it down, also said that He would take up His life again. Death would not swallow Messiah Christ up but rather death and hell would be defeated by Jeshua (Yea shoo^ a).

-and what do you think this ideogram Jeshua –(YEA SHOO^ A) means   it means YHWH our salvation        YHWH Ye^ she, our salvation

When the angels announced that a SAVIOUR was born for them (unto you) it became personal, their Saviour was born YHWH Ya^ sha, my Saviour.

The hand with a nail in it accomplished the mighty act of salvation and became my Saviour. This is the meaning of YHWH.

And YHWH can be expressed in 2 Breaths;

Draw breath in with the whisper  ‘Ya’

Let breath out and whisper ‘way’

The first breath that a baby takes is an inhale    ‘Ya’

The last breath we take on earth is an exhale    ‘Way’

Genesis 2:7

Then the Lord God (YHWH Elohim [PL]) formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed (Nishma) into his nostrils the breath of life; (Inhale ya) and the man became a living person.

YHWH     -that breath spoken name of YHWH gives us life twice over.

At birth we are given life and then when we become believers we are ‘born again’ spiritually and given spiritual/eternal life.
